The STEM TENT operates as a social enterprise – a business that deliberately applies commercial strategies to maximize both social impact and financial sustainability. Unlike traditional businesses, our success is measured not just in financial terms, but in our ability to create positive educational outcomes and community benefits while maintaining operational viability
Our Social Mission
To democratize access to quality STEM education resources and knowledge across Australia, with particular focus on:
- Making STEM education accessible and engaging for all children
- Supporting educators in delivering quality STEM education
- Breaking down geographical barriers to
- STEM learning opportunities
- Building sustainable local STEM communities
- Equalizing the gender gap in STEM educational opportunities by actively promoting and supporting girls’ participation in STEM
Financial Principles
- All executive (including owner) compensation is capped at reasonable market rates
- Commitment to fair pricing and value for money across all offerings
- All initial revenue surplus will be redirected back into marketing to strengthen the brand
- Once established (in 2026), profit will be funneled to The STEM TENT Foundation
- A reserve will be held for operational security
- Full financial transparency through annual independent audit, including auditor confirmation of social enterprise financial principles compliance
- Expenditure is limited to reasonable and modest options

Future Foundation Commitment
We commit to establishing The STEM TENT Foundation as a registered charity by 2026, which will:
- Focus on regional and remote STEM education access
- Operate with complete independence from The STEM TENT
- Be funded through The STEM TENT’s profit allocation
- Have its own independent board and governance structure
